The IQA – Automotive Quality Institute, a certification body accredited by CGCRE (Inmetro’s General Accreditation Coordination), advises on the updates to the RGCP (General Product Certification Requirements), in accordance with Inmetro Ordinance No. 118, dated March 6, 2015. The new document must be used for ongoing processes, whose maintenance will occur after September 2015, and for new proposals signed after the ordinance was issued.Among the main changes are a clearer definition of criteria for selecting laboratories, the requirement to conduct audits of quality management systems as early as the initial certification process, the request for a greater number of documents to be submitted with the certification application, and the definition of clearer criteria for the transfer of OCPs (Product Certification Bodies).
According to Joe Tolezano, technical coordinator at IQA, a major change is the understanding of recertification. “Conducted every four years, recertification is now considered an initial process rather than an ongoing maintenance process,” he says.
For Tolezano, the requirements are clearer. “In the past, there were questions that we answered based on our interpretation. Today, the rules are more clearly defined, which will allow us to better guide our clients. There has been a complete review of the requirements,” he notes.
